Beppo Buchanan-Smith

Beppo returned to Eriska in 1992 and became a partner in the business bringing a slightly different view of the business and striving to turn it from a seasonal operation to a full time facility using the growth in indoor facilities and activities as the backbone of the seasonal extension.

Beppo is the current Chairman of Pride of Britain hotels a Fellow of the HCIMA and a Master Innholder. Beppo lives on the island in a new house on the hillside

Chay Buchanan-Smith

Partner

Chay returned to the business in 1999 having spent several years working in the engineering sector and eventually developing his experience overseas. He is now responsible for the estate and outdoor activities although as a partner in the business he also plays an active role in the main house.

Chay is married and lives at the entrance to Eriska.

Rowena Barnett

Office Manager

Rowena joined Eriska in 1987 in a part time role which has developed over the years. Initially working in the office she then moved to work as Robin Buchanan-Smiths Assistant and is now responsible for running the office.

She deals with the daily reservations, accounts and tries to keep both Beppo and Chay on the straight and narrow financially! Rowena lives in Benderloch

Robert MacPherson

Head Chef

Robert is a local boy hailing from Fort William where his parents still live. After initial training in Fort William and Inverness he worked his way round Scotland, initially under the guidance of Jeff Bland at the Caledonian and Cameron House and then under his own leadership at Darroch Laerg, Balbirnie and Auchrannie. Robert joined the team at Eriska in 1997 and was immediately recognized with the award of 3 AA Rosettes and a mark of 7/10 in the good food guide.

Robert is renowned for his dedication to using the freshest local produce and strives to develop relationships with the smaller more discriminating suppliers. Robert is also an authority on wild mushrooms and fungi and has a passion for training being closely involved in many of the local schools development activities

Eric Taylor

Maintenance

Eric is our "Mr Fixit". When the well runs dry or the water starts leaking in it is he whom we call for and therefore he never has a dull day. Eric also has a love of gardening and has cultivated green fingers so he looks after both the indoor plants and those in the garden which require his nurturing care and attention.
Eric is based in the new offices(large maintenance shes) by the Tennis Court where he hives away essential parts and spares until they are called for.
