Introducing Eriska's Applecrates
2014 will mark 40 years since Eriska opened as a hotel and we plan to mark this by building a couple of one bedroom self-catering properties on the bluff above the main house. The plans have been developed in conjunction with the Edinburgh business Mozolowski and Murray and Applecrate. The Applecrate’s will be self-contained with their own heating, water and electrical services. Each property will offer a bedroom, an en-suite bathroom, kitchen and sitting room and will also have an integral external deck with stunning views out over the hot tub and across the island. They will offer complete privacy and seclusion without being too far from the spa, the restaurant, or technology.
The inspiration for our planned Applecrates was bringing luxury and peace & quiet together on guest terms, which is why we decided to work with them to offer another choice of accommodation on Eriska. But what is an Applecrate? It is a standalone luxury suite created to take advantage of the most scenic locations - in other words, perfect for Eriska. They are contemporary design and will be customised to suit Eriska’s environment. Every Applecrate will comprise an entrance vestibule with living, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and external areas.
Getting away from it all. All means different things to different people. Sometimes it's just the feeling that you are away from it all, but you can connect on your terms, if you need or want to. Applecrate delivers this flexibility with great lighting schemes, smart environmental controls, sound & vision, brilliant connectivity - especially Wi-Fi. The Applecrates will have great technology built in – so our guests, won't have to think about it.
Each applecrate will be individually designed, with a mix of bright and warm colours and contemporary furnishing. Slate and wooden floors, luxury bathrooms, professional kitchens, brilliant connectivity and entertainment systems. The design includes panoramic windows and central modern wood burning stoves. So, no matter what the weather brings – you can enjoy sitting outside in the evening sun or warm yourself at the fire and watch the west coast weather take its toll.
Designed to have a minimal environmental impact, our decision to adopt Applecrate is considered better for the environment. It has a smaller footprint than a bricks and mortar build, uses less material, and the wood is sourced from sustainable forests. Low emissivity also reduce heat escape – ideal for our common west coast weather.
