West Coast Weather - Week Commencing 18th May

Posted by Bertie Badger on May 18, 2014 4:17:00 PM

It seems the West Coast of Scotland are getting the worst of it this week; facing continuous downpours and significant temperature drops while our English counterparts enjoy clear blue skies and summer heats.

Though here in the Highlands we expect a slightly cooler and wetter climate, we find ourselves worrying that our summer may already be over! Though the current forecast for the week ahead shows a slight promise of improvement.

Today: With the met office predicting difficult driving conditions due to persistent heavy rain fall, there isn't much to be hopeful for. However, the rain is expected to turn more showery as the day progresses.

Monday: Rain showers and brief sunny intervals follow on from a fairly dry morning, with temperatures climbing back up to the comfortable teens.

Tuesday: Things look to dry up today, with the rain seemingly taking a bit of a break and leaving us with a nice dry day with frequent bursts of sunshine.

Wednesday: The rain returns with a vengeance today, with heavy showers predicted to last through the  morning and best of the afternoon. Though things may dry up in the evening.

Thursday: White clouds to dominate for the duration of the day, with things looking to remain dry.

Friday: More rain showers throughout with the odd sunny spell to brighten up the day

Saturday: The forecast looks to be mainly unchanged, with more showers ending the week.

Though, of course, we here at Eriska are always prepared with a full stock of wellies and umbrellas to aid our guests in their ventures outside.

For those coming our way this week: do not fret! There are still plenty of things to do on and around the Island from the comfort of the indoors. Now would be a perfect time to tour the nearby distilleries and explore the different whiskeys on offer in celebration of Homecoming Scotland's Whisky Month

West Coast Weather - Week Commencing 2nd March

Posted by Bertie Badger on Mar 2, 2014 10:38:00 AM

With the first meterological day of Spring behind us, we here at Eriska find ourselves eagerly awaiting all the associations of the season. With signs of new life slowly creeping all around the island the days of rain, wind and cold finally seem numbered.

Though the mountains are struggling to shake the remains of the snow from their tops, the days are getting noticably longer and it won't be long until the clouds open up completely to reveal the clear blue sky that we've been dreaming of since the beginning of winter.

But there's still a while to go before the reports of sunshine are upon us and the weather this coming week seems a true testiment to that.

Today: A sunny start to the week, with intervals of sunshine expected to last until mid-afternoon. Heavy rain will appear later in the day and last throughout the evening.

Monday: Light rain showers will fall periodically, though things will mostly be dry with a touch of sunshine in the afternoon.

Tuesday: Looks to be another cloudy day with some light showers.

Wednesday: Rain will dominate, with a mixture of light and heavy rainfall throughout

Thursday: Projected to remain unchanged, with more rain and moderate winds

Friday: Rain will persist another day, though things expected to heat up a bit with temperatures reaching 11°C

Saturday: The week looks to end on a wet note, with forecasts of rain.

So it may be a few more weeks yet before we can retire the winter coats and wellington boots. Though it does look like our guests will have some opportunity to get out and enjoy the scenery without getting too wet!

In the meantime, for those coming to visit this week  we'd advise making full use of our indoor facilities, which offers a nice variety of activities for those who want to stay active as well as those who want to put their feet up and relax!
