Albino Otter Progress

As reported earlier we were approached by a guest offering to create an otter on the shore by otter point. It was seen with several benefits, firstly it would guarantee sitings at otter pint, secondly it would possibly encourage real visitors to come ashore here and finally it would give a bit of amusement and enjoyment not only for the guests of the island but also for passing yachtsmen. So over the last few months the rock has been chosen, the sculpture created and the mould made of the rock.Today was the first moment of truth when the sculpture was brought to Eriska in mould form to be checked for size and fitting before being sent away to the foundry to be cast in bronze and then patented.

The great news is that it all fitted perfectly and was then admired from a distance. regrettably being a mould it is very white making its realism slightly more difficult but as we will now have to wait 4 months for the finished article I though w e would share the progress with you and prepare you for the new addition to Eriska hopefully in time for our 40th anniversary of our arrival at Eriska back in 1973.
