Award for top AA Restaurant
On Monday we set off to London to the AA restaurant awards, incidentally this seems to have changed names to bring it in line with the general elation surrounding restaurants and the lack of enthusiasm surrounding hotels but it will only be a phase as I am sure we will all be budged under Hospitality again soon. It was a wonderful evening where Torridon
won the award as Scottish Hotel of the Year. it was however a real occasion for Simon and his team from the kitchen when they were awarded three Rosettes.
Whilst it was a surprise when we changed the team in the kitchen for us to loose our rating 9probably too honest and open in informing them- it was suspended as opposed to removed- it was very welcome to get it back and is certainly a real credit to the team that Simon has built and reflects his hard work and effort in insuring consistent standards throughout.
For me however it was great to see his pursuit of local producers and his searches for the best fresh ingredients being rewarded. This has always been an essential for the kitchens at Eriska often forsaking the cheapest but in return winning by finding the best for our guests and even more importantly knowing the effort is appreciated and the ingredients are going to best use. Anyway it is now back to the drawing board and hard work pushing standards on and striving for the next rosette!
